Is your Friesian horse ready for Studbook Inspection?

Are you considering taking your Friesian horse to a studbook inspection or IBOP anywhere in the world? Would you like to know how to train and prepare your mare for presentation and judging?

Training your Friesian for IBOP?

Is your Friesian horse going for an IBOP-test? Please note that this is quite different from a regular dressage test. I wrote a six page pdf document detailing all rules and requirements. What do the judges want to see? How can you best prepare your Friesian horse for an IBOP test? The document includes tips for training and preparation and you can always send in a video to get further advice. One time cost: € 35 (including VAT). If you would like to order this document, please contact me by e-mail.

Or take the full online course ‘Ready for inspection‘ !

In this course you will learn how to train, groom and otherwise prepare your horse for the studbook inspection. What are the judges looking for? How and how often should you train your mare? When do you start? What do you feed her? And what is the best way to groom and present your mare when it’s inspection time?

This course consists of articles, videos and checklists, that will help you prepare for the inspection (‘keuring’). As many Friesian owners are far away from training stables specialised in Friesian horses, the online course offers a wonderful opportunity to prepare like a pro.

Why take this course with your Friesian?

Even if you take your horse to a trainer for the last weeks of preparations, it may be wise to start training much earlier on. It takes time for any horse to adjust to the training, grow the correct musculature and develop the carrying power needed to get good results come inspection time.

For a young, untrained 3-year-old, a training period of 3 to 4 months is recommended. Horses that are older and used for recreational purposes or beginner level dressage can be prepared in about 2 months. Well-trained dressage horses at medium level or higher can be prepared in about 3 weeks to a month.
